We're busting outta here!

Still no word from La India, except "Sorry, no visa approval yet..." So we're taking matters into our own hands. We are now the proud owners of ten year tourist visas to India and also of two one-way tickets to New Delhi. We're not messing around here. According to Fulbright, we can wait in Jaipur for the well-oiled beauracracy (ha!) to process Josh's visa. Then Josh can pop over to Katmandu, Nepal to pick up said visa (don't ask why, it just gets ridiculous like this sometimes) and the Fulbright will officially began. Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer--the orginal date was mid-August--but at least we can wait in India, practice our Hindi and get acclimated to life on the other side of the planet.

We begin our journey on November 7th and will arrive in Delhi on the 8th--we've got a five hour layover in Newark, so feel free to swing by if you're in the neighborhood--probably crash there for the night before making our way down to Jaipur (about six hours away) where Josh's teacher has kindly arranged for us to live in a small house that comes with a cook! Oh my. How bougie of us:-) But it should be a lot easier to negotiate the market and that whole language-that-we-don't-know situation with some help. Maybe I'll come across some Spanish speaking Rajisthani folks...

So until the 7th, we'll be chilling with the Pierce clan in Portland taking care of things like health insurance and typhoid vaccines. You'll be hearing more from us soon...much love...
